Why is 2HM tempered so much higher than 2H?
Grade 2H needs only 455°C. Grade 2HM must reach 620°C so the structure softens enough to resist sulphide stress cracking.

No. The harder washer breaks the intent of the sour-service joint and will normally be rejected at inspection.
