The use of cerium in Stainless Steel 446 Electropolish Tubes in combination with silicon results in superior oxidation resistance to 2000 Degree F (1093 Degree C). Nitrogen, carbon, and cerium in Stainless Steel 446 Sanitary Pipes combine to provide creep rupture strength that is double that of type SS 310 and SS 309 at 1600 Degree F (871 Degree C). Stainless Steel 446 Sanitary Tubes is austenitic grades and quite ductile in the annealed condition, where local sulfidation attack under the deposit can then occur. However, when machining, these Stainless Steel 446 Smooth Finish Pipes work harden more rapidly and require more power to cut than plain carbon steels. Stainless Steel 446 Smooth Finish Tubes has good resistance to hot bearing atmospheres, meaning sulfidation under oxidizing conditions.
